Seventh Grade Curriculum

7th Grade Curriculum

Seventh grade is a year of growth and preparation at Huntington Catholic. Students dive deeper into their studies, begin preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, and are encouraged to embrace leadership and responsibility both in the classroom and in their faith. This year strengthens academic skills while guiding students to live as active witnesses of Christ.

Faith & Religion

  • Students explore the life and teachings of Jesus in the New Testament, prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, and grow in their personal prayer life. Faith is strengthened through service, liturgy, and participation in parish and school traditions.

Language Arts

  • Reading comprehension of complex texts, including Scripture, literature, and informational writing

  • Expanding vocabulary and advanced grammar usage

  • Writing persuasive essays, analytical responses, and creative projects

  • Building research skills and presenting findings effectively

  • Developing confidence in public speaking and class discussions

Mathematics

  • Mastery of pre-algebra skills, including equations, inequalities, and rational numbers

  • Applying ratios, proportions, and percentages to real-world problems

  • Exploring geometry, measurement, and data analysis

  • Preparing for transition into Algebra I in 8th grade

Science

  • Focus on life science and biology concepts

  • Topics include cells, genetics, ecosystems, and human body systems

  • Applying the scientific method through labs, group projects, and hands-on activities

  • Understanding God’s role in creation through the lens of science

Social Studies

  • Study of world history, cultures, and civilizations

  • Topics may include early societies, medieval Europe, and world religions

  • Strengthening geography skills and understanding global connections

  • Encouraging critical thinking and Catholic perspectives on culture and history

Technology

  • Expanding proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and multimedia tools

  • Learning responsible use of digital resources for research and collaboration

  • Creating presentations and projects that integrate technology across subjects

  • Emphasizing safe and ethical online behavior

Seventh grade is a year of preparation, responsibility, and leadership. At Huntington Catholic School, students are formed as faithful disciples who are ready to receive Confirmation, embrace their Catholic identity, and excel academically as they look ahead to high school.
